About Us

The relationship between molecular form and function is crucial to many scientific challenges, including designing new catalysts, medicines, and devices. Even so, determining how molecular structures define reaction dynamics remains difficult. The Burt group uses mass spectrometry imaging and ultrashort laser pulses to investigate these links, starting from the fundamental level by probing the structures and photochemistry of isolated molecules.

Our research is interdisciplinary, and is accessible to students interested in physical and computational chemistry, analytical chemistry, and chemical physics. We are a friendly and diverse group, and are always interested to hear from potential students and postdoctoral researchers. More information can be found under the tabs above.
